Several plead guilty in eight-liner case

Two corporations linked to now-defunct eight-liner game rooms pleaded guilty Wednesday to engaging in organized criminal activity, said Taylor County District Attorney James Eidson.
Under the terms of the plea agreement, Silver Dollar Gaming and Turley Enterprises, corporations affiliated with the former Silver Dollar game rooms in Abilene, agreed to pay a maximum fine of $20,000.
Six people affiliated with the Silver Dollar on North 1st Street pleaded guilty Wednesday to gambling promotion, a Class A misdemeanor. They each received one year deferred adjudication and paid a fine ranging from $1,000 to $2,000, Eidson said.
