An Erath County jury found a Hamilton County man guilty of possession of methamphetamine Wednesday — despite an attempt by the defendant’s son to take the blame.

The jury sentenced Jimmy Don Brumbalow Sr. to 10 years in prison after hearing testimony in the 266th Judicial District Court.

Among the witnesses called in the one-day trial was the defendant’s son, Jimmy Don Brumbalow Jr., who is currently serving a 20-month sentence in Jacksboro after pleading guilty to drug possession in the same case.

Department of Public Safety Trooper Nick Duecker testified that at about 9:30 p.m. on Dec. 1, 2006 someone reported seeing “suspicious activity” at a Stephenville car wash. Duecker, who was a Stephenville police officer at the time, was one of the officers who responded to the call and said when he arrived at the scene, he found the father/son duo parked in a lighted car wash bay.
