Mo City woman convicted for stealing teacher's ID

    A Missouri City woman received a two-year sentence Monday for stealing a school teacher’s identity.

    Stacey Lavett Davis, 42, entered a guilty plea for stealing the identity of a Rosenberg teacher and was convicted of fraudulent use of identifying information.

    She was sentenced to the maximum two-year confinement by 268th District Court Judge Brady Elliott, according to a release from the district attorney’s office.

Convicted woman testifies in support of other defendant

A woman already convicted in the 2007 murder of Michael Myrick testified Wednesday in defense of another defendant, Jason Anderson.

Thelma Maldonado, who is serving a life term in Myrick’s death, testified that she did not see Anderson hit anybody.

Defense attorney Daniel Barnes attempted to show that his client did not participate in the beating or the stabbing death of Myrick.

Aggravated assault near Missouri City nets man 50 years in prison

A 45 year old Houston man was sentenced last week to 50 years in prison after pleading guilty to to Aggravated Assault with a Deadly Weapon and Burglary of a Habitation. The crimes were committed in an unincorporated area near Missouri City in late 2008.

Michael Earl Chaney,45, of Houston, appeared before 434th District Court Judge James H. Shoemake during a hearing to determine his punishment, said Assistant District Attorney Jill Stotts.

SAN ANTONIO -- Exactly a year after 26-year-old Charles Reese killed 18-year-old Shanika Sanford, testimony in the punishment phase of Reese's trial ended. The couple had been married for just two weeks when Reese shot Sanford to death.

On Wednesday, prosecutors produced a long list of Reese's past criminal activity. It included drug, assault and robbery cases.
