A jury deliberated about 20 minutes Monday before sentencing a former King High School football player convicted of murder to probation and a fine.

The jury in the trial of 19-year-old Joshua Lindsey handed down a suspended sentence of five years in prison and a $10,000 fine. District Judge Tom Greenwell, who then had to decide on the length of probation, sentenced Lindsey to 10 years probation, the maximum allowed.

Lindsey was one of seven men accused of planning to rob 27-year-old Sam Washington on April 12, 2007, at his Howard Street home. He was the first to stand trial for capital murder but the jury Friday found him guilty of the lesser-included charge of murder, a first-degree felony.
