AG asked to rule on prosecutors' authority to commission reserve peace officers

State Representative Joe Driver (R-Garland), Chairman of the House Committee on Law Enforcement, has requested an opinion from the Attorney General on the authority of a county attorney to issue commissions for reserve or nonpaid peace officers.

The AG's notice was issued on August 7, 2008.  Any briefs or comments on this request should be submitted to the AG's office by September 4, 2008.
