With sadness we report the recent passing of Elizabeth “Betty” Marshall.
Betty had a long and distinguished career as an appellate lawyer, including serving as chief of the appellate section for the Tarrant County Criminal District Attorney’s Office and as an Assistant State Prosecuting Attorney in Austin. Betty was board certified in criminal law was a frequent speaker on criminal law and evidence for TDCAA. She also was a Founding Fellow of the Texas Prosecutors Society, which benefits the Texas District and County Attorneys Foundation.
Betty was the widow of C. Chris Marshall, a fellow Assistant Criminal District Attorney in Tarrant County who was shot and killed in 1992 in the Tarrant County Courthouse. TDCAA honors Chris’s legacy through the annual presentation of our C. Chris Marshall Award to recognize our distinguished faculty members and teachers.
