Position: First Assistant District Attorney

Salary: Starting at $130,000.00, upward adjustment available based on
experience, and County benefits.

Description: Supervisory role, specifically, over three Assistant District Attorneys
of varying experience in an active office of 11 total personnel.

Primary Expectations:

  • Represent the State of Texas in all matters handled by the DA’s office,
    including those duties of the District Attorney in his absence.
  • Supervise other Assistant District Attorneys at all stages of case
    progression, including trial preparation and docket calls.
  • Maintain a caseload from intake through trial.
  • Advise local law enforcement, as part of on-call schedule, drafting search
    warrants, and regular organized meetings with law enforcement agencies.
  • Assist the District Attorney and court in scheduling of trials, and developing
    policies and procedures for efficient and effective use of trial dates.
  • Performs all other job-related duties assigned.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Must be a graduate of an accredited law school.
  • Must have a license to practice law in the State of Texas and be in good
    standing with the State and local bar associations.
  • Must have at least 10 years of felony experience and a working knowledge
    of criminal law, criminal procedure, and the Criminal rules of evidence.
    Experience in handling crimes against persons, preferred.
  • Must pass a pre-employment background and drug test
  • Must have first chair felony trial experience
