Assistant District Attorney (Adult Sex Crimes-Grant Funded) – District Attorney’s Office
Employer: Fort Bend County District Attorney’s Office
Location: Richmond, Texas
The Fort Bend County District Attorney’s Office is seeking a dedicated Adult Sex Crimes prosecutor who will be responsible for the intake and prosecution of felony adult sex crimes cases, effective immediately. Applicants should be Texas licensed attorneys in good standing with at least 3 years of job-related experience, and should possess a thorough working knowledge of criminal prosecution and court procedure. The ideal candidate for this position has felony trial experience, including sex crimes case work.
As part of our Special Crimes Division, the prosecutor will be specially trained to build relationships with local law enforcement and community partners alongside our internal victim assistance coordinators to establish a trauma-informed, multi-disciplinary team to address adult sexual assault cases in Fort Bend County. The Adult Sex Crimes prosecutor will handle the intake of adult sex crimes cases including domestic violence and intimate partner sexual assaults. The Special Crimes Division prosecutes vertically: presenting all charges to the grand jury for consideration and other cases involving allegations of misconduct where the evidence meets the threshold of probable cause. Cases resulting in an indictment will be handled through the discovery, plea negotiation, and trial process including assisting on appeal. Strong case evaluation, writing, and communication skills will be required as well as a proficiency to educate grand jurors, law enforcement, and community members.
Fort Bend County is one of the most diverse counties in the nation and is only thirty minutes from downtown Houston. The annual salary for this position starts at $103,542. Bar dues and CLE are paid for by the office. Relevant Texas Board of Legal Specialization certifications allow for additional compensation of $5,000 annually.
Offers are subject to an application/interview process and background check. Not all applicants will be interviewed. Interested applicants should e-mail a cover letter and resume to Special Crimes Chief Prosecutor Traci Bennett at [email protected] at their earliest convenience.
