The Orange County District Attorney’s Office has an opening for an experienced felony prosecutor, effective immediately.
This prosecutor will handle all aspects of felony prosecution including case intake, plea negotiations, trial preparation and jury/bench trials, probation revocation hearings, and appeals. In addition, this prosecutor will confer with and review search and arrest warrant affidavits submitted by law enforcement.
In order to be qualified for the position, the applicant must have graduated from an accredited law school and be a current member in good standing of the State Bar of Texas. In addition, the applicant must have three (3) or more years of felony prosecutor experience (or criminal law equivalent) and must have tried at least five (5) felony jury trials.
Starting salary is $80,849 plus a state supplement that ranges from $25,000-$31,000, depending upon availability of Senate Bill 22 funding. Benefits include, but are not limited to, county retirement (2 to 1 match), health insurance, and paid bar dues and CLE.
Orange County is located in beautiful southeast Texas on the border of Louisiana, approximately eighty miles from Houston. The Sabine River borders the City of Orange and nearby Sabine Lake provides opportunities for fishing, hunting and boating.
