JOB SUMMARY:
The 156th Judicial District Attorney’s Office has a position for a felony level prosecutor with the Border Prosecution Unit (BPU). Duties include evaluation and prosecution of felony criminal offenses and juvenile offenses considered border crimes due to a nexus with the Texas-Mexico border. This prosecutor will be expected to represent the State in criminal felony prosecutions in the Bee, Live Oak and McMullen County District Courts. The prosecutor will be expected to evaluate cases, contact victims, work with law enforcement officers, engage in plea negotiations with defense attorneys, and try appropriate cases to jury verdicts.
Applicants must be licensed by and in good standing with the State Bar of Texas. Salary up to $140,000, based on candidate’s prosecutorial experience. This position is funded by a grant through the Office of the Governor’s Homeland Security Grant Division.
