Beginning Salary: $95,387.76
Job Summary
Involves all phases of litigation in the prosecution of juvenile delinquency cases and presenting said cases in front of the Associate Judge of the Court. Duties include, but are not limited to, trial work, discovery, handling agreed pleas as well as open pleas, and other contested hearings. This attorney will work in a court with other assigned prosecutors.
Essential Job Functions
- Handling all court hearings before the Associate Judge of the Court, including announcement and plea and disposition hearings.
- Managing a mini-docket of 15-30 juvenile delinquency cases from announcement to disposition, including handling trials by court and trials by jury.
- Reviewing cases for participation in diversion programs.
- Advising crime victims on matters of juvenile law.
- Working with Juvenile Probation Services.
- Preparing motions and documents.
- Ability to research and prepare legal documents in relation to juvenile law litigation, including but not limited to discovery, pleas, hearings and trials.
- Other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
Licensed to practice law in the State of Texas.
A Juris Doctor Degree and three years as a practicing attorney with a minimum of one year of juvenile or criminal law.
