Litigation Attorney

Job Summary:

The Litigation Attorney is under the direction of the Deputy Chief Appraiser. The position requires interaction and collaboration with staff in the Litigation Department and outside counsel during the property value litigation process.

Essential Duties:

  • Draft and review legal documents such as motions, pleadings, notices, and judgments.
  • Draft discovery requests and responses.
  • Communicate effectively and professionally with WCAD staff, outside counsel, property owners and/or their attorneys.
  • Prepare for and represent WCAD in court appearances and trials in Williamson County.
  • Represent WCAD in administrative hearings.
  • Research and analyze legal issues.
  • Public information request assistance.
  • Effectively manage time and prioritize tasks to oversee caseload and meet deadlines.

Minimum Qualifications and Professional Skills:

  • Bachelor’s degree in law, finance, business management or a related field.
  • Juris Doctor degree from an accredited school of law.
  • Licensed to practice in Texas.
  • 3+ years litigation experience.
  • Ability to manage a large caseload.
  • Ability to identify and analyze complex issues.
  • Exceptional oral and written communication skills.
  • Intermediate to advanced proficiency with Microsoft Office.
  • Knowledge of the Texas Property Tax Code, legal requirements and procedures preferred.
