Special Prosecution Unit – Sexually Violent Predator Division

Prosecutor Job Opening

Special Prosecution Unit

Sexually Violent Predator Division

Opening available for a prosecutor in the Sexually Violent Predator Division of the Special Prosecution Unit. This position is litigation intensive with almost every case resulting in a jury trial. The trials involve the Civil Commitment of Sexually Violent Predators pursuant to Section 841 of the Texas Health & Safety Code. The SVP Division travels the state assisting District Attorneys’ offices with these cases, so travel is typically required once a month for trial (usually 2-4 days). This position will expose you to both civil and criminal law, including depositions of expert witnesses and defendants, to build a case of future sexual dangerousness on some of the worst sex offenders exiting the Texas Department of Criminal Justice. Our goal is to prevent the next victim.

The ideal applicant will be a Texas licensed attorney with legal experience, but recently licensed attorneys as well as those pending bar results are encouraged to apply as well. Travel is required. Salary in the low to mid 90’s depending on experience. The central office is located at 1300 11th Street, Suite 310, Huntsville, Texas 77340 (30 minutes north of The Woodlands/Conroe area.)
